Description
The Center for Plastic Surgery
Cosmetic plastic surgeon Sandra Bouzaglou, MD, FACS, offers surgical and nonsurgical services at The Center for Plastic Surgery and Med Spa in Lexington, Kentucky.
Dr. Bouzaglou was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up in Southern California. At an early age, she decided to pursue a path in medicine. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, before obtaining her medical degree from the Chicago Medical School. She completed a general surgery residency at The University of Iowa.
Although Dr. Bouzaglou loved general surgery, her true passion was rooted in Plastic Surgery – helping her patients "Look Good" so they could "Feel Good." She admired the ability to make someone feel good about themselves through Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and went on to complete her Plastic Surgery residency at The University of Kentucky.
As their first female plastic surgery resident, she trained and learned from many leaders in the plastic surgery field. Now even after over 30 years of living out her dream as a Plastic Surgeon, she is constantly learning new techniques and improving her skills to give her patients the latest and greatest that Plastic Surgery has to offer.
In 1998, Dr. Bouzaglou opened Kentucky's first accredited outpatient center of its kind, The SurgiCenter, which is dedicated to providing a safe and private environment for patients. The SurgiCenter has successfully performed over 3,500 cases. For her first 25 years in practice, these procedures were performed under general anesthesia; however, since 2017, Dr. Bouzaglou and her team have eliminated the need for general anesthesia. They have found that with the use of oral sedation and local anesthesia, patients have a superior experience, recovering faster without the risks associated with general anesthesia. It has also opened the door to patients who would not have otherwise qualified for surgery because their anesthetic risk was too high.
