About Timothy C. Wilson, M.D.
Timothy C. Wilson, MD, holds dual board certifications in orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine. He welcomes new and existing patients at his private practice in Lexington, Kentucky, where he offers the full scope of orthopedic care from fractures and acute soft tissue injuries to degenerative disease.
As an expert in arthroscopic surgery, he specializes in procedures such as rotator cuff repair, ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, and treatment of patella dislocations. Dr. Wilson also has extensive experience in cartilage transplants and knee replacements.
A Lexington native, Dr. Wilson graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from nearby Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky. He received his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky, where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, a medical honor society.
Dr. Wilson finished his internship and residency training in orthopedic surgery at the University of Alabama (UAB) University Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. He then completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Kentucky back in Lexington.
Dr. Wilson is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He maintains active membership in several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the Kentucky Medical Association, and the Lexington Medical Society. He also serves on the AAOS Ethics committee and many other national committees.
Before opening his own practice, Dr. Wilson treated patients at other private orthopedic practices. He also served as an assistant professor at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center and taught pediatric sports medicine and orthopedic surgery at Shriners Hospital for Children, both in Lexington.
