For over fifty years, Sheryl has dedicated her legal career to helping Houston-area families navigate the complexities of divorce, child custody, and other family law matters. More than just a divorce attorney, Sheryl is a trusted child custody attorney and family lawyer who understands the profound impact these situations have on individuals and families.

Like all attorneys, most clients seek out Sheryl’s help when their life circumstances have created significant disruptions in their health, safety, or emotional and mental well-being. Whether the family matter relates to divorces with or without property, initial child custody arrangements or modifications, prenuptial agreements, adoptions or separation agreements, Sheryl understands how personal and unique each situation can be. Each client receives the time and attention necessary to determine the best path to follow to seek out a just and satisfactory resolution.

Education

Sheryl is a graduate of Memorial High School in Houston, Texas. She then attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, where she received an Associate of Arts Degree. Following her time at Stephens, she spent her junior year abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France. Upon returning to the states, Sheryl attended Sophie Newcomb College, part of Tulane University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1967.

Sheryl attended the University of Texas School of Law in Austin where she received many academic and leadership honors and accolades.

She became the first female law clerk to a federal judge in the Southern District of Texas, a part of the Fifth Circuit.

During her clerkship, Sheryl taught law becoming the first female on the faculty of South Texas College of Law.

Thereafter, she became the first woman on the partnership track at the firm of Baker and Botts, primarily engaging in civil litigation and family law for over six years. In 1980, she opened her own boutique firm specializing in family law.
