Location and special features

The Schwabencenter is the oldest shopping center in Augsburg and was built in the early 1970s. It houses around 17,000 square meters of retail space as well as a multi-storey parking lot and apartments. The largest tenant is the grocery giant Edeka. A further 30 stores are spread along the south-facing row of stores. Although the Schwabencenter is a very important local supply center in Augsburg's Herrenbachviertel district, it is clearly getting on in years. It is not yet clear whether the Schwabencenter will be preserved.

Access and parking

The parking garage of the Schwabencenter is located behind the stores and offers around 1,200 parking spaces. Almost two thirds of the parking spaces are owned by the apartments in the Schwabencenter, meaning that around 400 parking spaces are reserved for visitor traffic. The parking garage can be reached via Wilhelm-Hauff-Straße, which circles the complex once. It merges into Friedberger Straße (B 300). Streetcar line 6 and bus line 36 also run there.
